Compression That Actually Works
Professional-grade image compression with granular control, batch processing, and zero quality compromise.
Smart Compression Engine
Our adaptive algorithm analyzes image content and applies the optimal compression strategy — preserving sharp edges, smooth gradients, and fine textures while eliminating redundant data.
Instant Results
Compress images in milliseconds, not minutes. Our WebAssembly-powered engine processes your photos locally with zero network latency — results appear the moment you drop a file.
Visual Quality Preview
Compare before and after with a side-by-side slider. See exactly what changes at each compression level before committing — no guesswork, no surprises.
Batch Processing
Drop 10, 50, or 500 images at once. Each is compressed independently with individual quality settings. Download all as a ZIP or one by one — your choice.
Granular Quality Control
Fine-tune compression from 1 to 100 with a precision slider. Choose between maximum savings or maximum quality — or let auto-mode pick the sweet spot for you.
100% Private & Local
Your images never leave your device. All compression runs in your browser via WebAssembly — no uploads, no cloud processing, no tracking. Complete privacy, guaranteed.

Get The Most Out of Compression
Expert recommendations to maximize savings without sacrificing visual quality.
Choose the Right Format
Use WebP for web images — it's 25–35% smaller than JPEG at the same quality. Reserve PNG for images needing transparency.
Start at Quality 80
For most photos, quality 80 is the sweet spot. You'll save 60–70% file size with zero perceptible quality loss on most screens.
Resize Before Compressing
If your image is larger than needed, resize first. A 4000px wide photo displayed at 800px wastes enormous data. Smaller dimensions compress better.
Avoid Re-Compressing
Each time you save a JPEG, quality degrades. Always compress from the original source file, not a previously compressed version.

Compression Questions Answered
Everything you need to know about compressing images with Pixly.
How much can I compress an image without losing quality?
Most photos can be reduced by 60–80% with no visible quality loss. Our smart algorithm analyzes each image and applies the optimal compression level. For JPEG images, a quality setting of 80–85 typically produces results indistinguishable from the original while cutting file size dramatically.
What is the best image format for compression?
WebP offers the best compression ratio — typically 25–35% smaller than JPEG at equivalent quality. For photos, JPEG remains excellent. For images with transparency, PNG or WebP are ideal. AVIF provides even better compression but has narrower browser support. Our compressor automatically recommends the best format for your image.
Can I compress multiple images at once?
Yes! You can drag and drop multiple images into the compressor and process them all in one batch. There are no limits on the number of images or total file size — everything runs locally in your browser, so your device's processing power is the only constraint.
Does compression affect image resolution?
No. Compression reduces the file size by optimizing how pixel data is encoded, not by changing the dimensions. Your compressed image will have the exact same width and height as the original. If you also need to resize, use our Image Resizer tool after compressing.
Is there a file size limit for compression?
There is no hard file size limit. Since all processing happens in your browser using WebAssembly, the only limit is your device's available memory. Most modern devices can handle images up to 50MB without issues. For extremely large files, we recommend resizing first.
Why is my compressed image still large?
If your image has a lot of fine detail, noise, or text, compression will be less effective. Try converting to WebP format for better results. Also, ensure you are using an appropriate quality setting — lowering it to 70–75 can yield significant savings with minimal visible impact.
